I honestly still do not know what to say regarding the news that broke yesterday of Mary Cheney's pregnancy with partner of 15 yrs, Heather. As a lesbian I want to be happy and congratulatory, but as a member of the Left, I am speechless and curious. Curious because I wonder what the true reactions were at the White House. Of course, the Cheney's have to be "looking forward with eager anticipation" because its good politics to seem inclusive of one's own.
What I find hilarious is the the Christian Right is, as usual, beside themselves! "Outrage" I think I have read. It's just so funny. Still can't put my finger on how I feel exactly, but a large part of me wishes the pregnancy weren't so, because after all the shit that has been flung our way, (some by Mary herself), I don't want her to be a part of my world or be in the lesbian family club like so many of my great friends. Their discrimination makes them ineligible...IMHO
