Broadway Monday

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical
A glamorous Sydney-based performance troupe, made up of two drag queens and a transsexual, takes their show across the Australian outback. The group is hired to perform a drag show in a remote part of the Australian desert. They board a lavender bus and head to the locale, but the trip does not go according to plan.
We're taking it across the pond for this week's Broadway Monday! London's West End has it's own group of theatres and shows that run in a similar fashion to the Great White Way, so I thought it would be nice to feature one of their new additions.
Priscilla is based on the 1995 film of the same name which has received a cult-like status around the world, so it will be interesting to see if the stage version can keep up with it's big sister.
So far the reviews are dreadful, and the claws are out in the London press, but it doesn't seem to be dampening the audience's approval and enthusiasm. I mean how can you resist a good time that includes a room full of drag queens in spectacular costumes and wigs, AND a huge touring bus which transforms onstage nightly?!
Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical opened March 23, 2009 at the Palace Theatre in London and is slated for an open-ended run.
