Update on one of last week's posts:

You'll all be relieved/excited to know that the nut-job church featured in this story has no plans for taking the sign down, in fact, more will be erected featuring more button-pushing topics such as abortion and same-sex marriage. Something tells me I will be linking back to this story a lot.

blame it on the gays

So now I guess we gays are responsible for Carrie Prejean not winning the Miss America title last night. Wow, we are awesomely powerful! First 9/11, then Katrina, now this! I can totally see why America is so scared of us and try at every turn to keep us down. I'd be scared of us too. We are freakin' awesome! BTW, Miss Prejean, if you are so happy with your answer to the question, and feel like "the winner" because you stood on principle, why did you run to Fox News so fast? Happiness with your answer doesn't beg the need to plead your case on the "news" network that butters their bread bashing and demonizing homosexuals. You don't think your losing had anything to do with the fact that your answer may have been real, but other parts of you clearly are not, do you?

@nomtweets Suck It!

Check out this ridiculous new campaign that is,... well...ridiculous. These poor heteros are just being attacked from all sides by loving same-sex couples with great fashion sense and awesome organizational skills. Poor things.

BTW, if you have a Twitter account, try working in @nomtweets Suck It! every chance you get! It'll make you feel all tingly inside!

I had a little awakening/understanding yesterday while listening to The Stephanie Miller Show on Air America.

Abortion is the political equivalent to medicine's cure for cancer.

If the Republicans are ever able to overturn Roe vs. Wade, they really won't have much to use to mobilize their masses in future elections. The big scary 'A' word will be gone.
I hear you saying it, the next focus would be the gays, but that fight seems like it is a bit too easy. point: Every time an election comes up some state is voting to take away some right, overturn some decision, and shove us back into the dark recesses of a musty closet. Baby step by baby step, they make headway on the gay issue, but reproductive rights stay fairly intact. They don't take a beating every time a voting booth is opened.

I'm meandering all over the place, but my point is that if you take those two topics away, specifically abortion, then the Grand Ole Party has nothing with which to draw the hillbillies of Appalachia down the mountain to flip the switch that keeps them in power.
If you kill the monster in the room, you're left standing in the room alone with no one watching.

That's my 2 cents. Feel free to leave me yours.

The list of Republican disgraces in public seems to be growing by the day. Clearly, there are too many to count. The number of Bush Administration officials who have fallen from grace because of corporate scandal or unlawful dealings within the government is astounding.

However, nothing grabs the headlines like a political sex scandal. If we can put a naughty sex spin on a politician---we love it. However, I am puzzled by the double standard the Republicans have placed on their little problem of sex with strangers.

David Vitter(R) --outed as a client in the DC Madame case; currently still serving as Senator and campaign manager for Rudy Giuliani

Larry Craig (R) --plead guilty for soliciting sex from an officer in a MN airport bathroom; resigned today from his position as Senator after heavy pressure from the Republican party

Both of these guys were caught soliciting some form of sexual favor, both are Republicans, both were Senators elected by their constituents, but only one was forced to resign from his position.

Whats the big difference? Apparently hooking with the opposite sex is perfectly okay, hooking with the same sex is nowhere near to towing the party line which takes the stance of bashing and demonizing gays at every turn.
Same Shit. Different Day.
straight=good
gay=bad
